Coopersburg Fire Company NO.1

Quotation from Gennaah Jordan's history of Coopersburg, pg 40

"On Tuesday evening October 13th, 1903,  a public meeting of the citizens of the borough of Coopersburg was called in the council chambers in I.O.O.F Hall for the purpose of organizing a fire company. By March 11th, 1904 a charter was granted to Coopersburg Fire Co. No.1 with 52 charter members. A fair was held in the old shed belonging to the Barron House. The proceeds were used toward the purchase of a hose carriage which was a 2 wheel affair with a shaft. the Apparatus was drawn by a long rope fastened to the shaft for the men to pull in response to an alarm."
